Dr. Amelia Tower, breast surgical oncologist, brings superior knowledge and care to every patient she sees at Breast Associates of Texas, Fort Worth.
In partnership with radiation oncologist, Dr. Matthew Cavey of Texas Radiotherapy, Dr. Tower offers personal care for patients that need breast surgical oncology care and/or radiation oncology care.
Dr. Tower completed her General Surgery Residency at the University of North Texas Medical Center in Fort Worth and fellowship training at Breast Surgical Oncology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was one of the last surgeons trained by the renowned expert in breast cancer surgery, Dr. Thomas Julian.
Dr. Tower has played a pivotal role in breast cancer treatment and was the first surgeon to use FDA-approved advanced imaging technology during surgery. She continues to advance the field by collaborating with biotechnology companies to improve surgical equipment and techniques.
She is also a certified Hidden Scar™ specialist, which requires training in advanced surgical techniques to minimize visible scarring. This allows Dr. Tower to make incisions in less noticeable areas to help preserve the natural appearance of the breast.
In addition to her surgical career, Dr. Tower is passionate about educating the next generation of medical professionals. In July 2021, she played a key role in establishing the Texas Health Fort Worth Graduate Medical Education program. She was there every step of the way from creating the curriculum, to training future surgeons, and graduating the very first class. She remains dedicated to teaching today, serving as Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs and Associate Professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine.
Beyond her expertise, Dr. Tower’s warm and compassionate nature helps patients, and their families, feel at ease during a challenging time and prides herself in caring for her patients like family.
